Chicago Public Library is turning 150 and we have stories to tell. This six-episode limited series podcast takes us on a journey – from building a library after the Great Chicago Fire to reimagining what libraries could be. Along the way, we will meet different Library People: librarians, patrons, authors, and so much more. Each episode will bring a mix of voices and stories found in Chicago’s 80+ branches that make Chicago Public Library a city treasure and a leader in the space.
Take a deeper dive into episode 5 of the Library for the People podcast, focusing on libraries as spaces that create camaraderie and fellowship as well as broaden skills to help further skills and education.

Obie the Goldfish
Podcast listeners got to learn about Obie in episode 5, so take a look at Obie and his friends (including some of Obie's babies!). As mentioned in the podcast, Obie came to the library after a kid won Obie as a prize and he was brought to the library. As he's grown, so has his environment. Librarian Aimee at Sulzer Regional Library regularly posts videos of Obie and friends on YouTube - watch to get updates about the fish living at Sulzer!
