It’s Teen Literature Day!

I like celebrating teen literature every day because there is so much good stuff out there. Yet, in honor of the actual day, I wanted to share a couple titles that I recently enjoyed reading.

Marie Lu's world in Legend can be compared to The Hunger Games or Divergent, but what I like about this dystopian novel are the parallel lives of Day and June, two characters on each side of the good vs. bad story. The government is trying to hunt down Day, the bad guy, and June becomes involved hunting him down because she finds out that Day murdered her brother. But did he? While she hunts for the truth, the military government invades poor neighborhoods to see who has become infected with the plague, but what Day and June both find out surprises them for different reasons. The fast pace of the first book in this trilogy had me wanting more from the get go!

The F--- It List is a different kind of story because it's set in present day. The storyline is a simple one with a heavy subject. Becca has cancer and she wants her friend Alex to complete a bucket list Becca has been making since she was a young girl. The communication between the teen girls is fantastic because of its honesty and rawness, and I especially enjoyed all the true-to-life insecurities and subtle drama that invades the lives of these two girls.

So, what should I read next? What's your favorite teen lit?
