Teens: Apply for Chicago Public Library School Year Internships

Get involved with the library this spring by applying to one of our upcoming internships, starting in early 2026.

Applications open Monday, October 13th and close Sunday, November 2nd. These internships are open to Chicago high school students. You can apply to as many positions as you would like but you will only be able to accept one. Positions are available at multiple CPL locations. Find the application link and full description of each program below. Remember applications will go live on Monday, October 13th. 

Teen Best Reads:

  • Get paid to read and talk about your favorite books of the year. Record booktoks and meet monthly with other teens to curate the ultimate annual book list by teens for teens.
  • Open to High School Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors. 
  • This internship runs from January 2026 to December 2026.

Chicago Teen Gamer's Guild:

  • Bring your gaming expertise to design a free, all ages convention that celebrates everything gaming. Apply to these sub-guilds: Esports, Cosplay, Con Planning, and Game Design.
  • This internship runs from January 2026 to June 2026.

Radical Fit Incubator:

  • Boost your design skills with Chicago-based fashion designers Sky Cubacub of Rebirth Garments and Vieve of Vulpinic and create a fashion capsule collection to showcase at the Queer Radical Fair.
  • This internship runs from January 2026 to August 2026.

Internship Requirements:

  • Applicants must be between the ages of 13-19 years old, reside in Chicago and be enrolled in high school or equivalent.
  • All interns will need to submit a completed W9 in order for internship stipends to be processed.
  • If you are younger that 16-year-old as of January 2026, you will need a work permit. Once you are accepted into the internship, we will provide a Letter of Intent that you can submit to your school to begin the work permit process.
