Rules of the Road for Temporary Visitor Licenses

Starting in December, non-visa status individuals who live in Illinois and cannot obtain a Social Security Number can apply for a Temporary Visitor Driver’s License.

The license is valid for three years and is to be used for driving only. Applicants must pass the written, vision and road exams. Study for the exams by picking up a free copy of Rules of the Road at the Back of the Yards Branch. Rules of the Road is available in English and Spanish.
