The Chicago Public Library has partnered with Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) to expand access to recovery and support resources at select CPL locations. As part of this partnership, the Kelly and Uptown branches will display A.A. magazines and literature adjacent to Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) health resources for easy access to information about recovery and support services.
To launch this partnership, the Chicago Public Library African American Heritage Committee will host a special event on February 19 titled "Black and African American Alcoholics in AA: A Historical Perspective." The program will explore the history, contributions, and experiences of Black and African American members within Alcoholics Anonymous.
In addition, AA representatives will provide staff presentations at the Kelly and Uptown branches to increase awareness and understanding of available recovery resources. Additional information and materials are available at Chicago Public Library locations.
