Chinese Painting & Calligraphy by the Get Along Arts Club at Harold Washington Library Center

Harold Washington Library Center hosts an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month art exhibit from April 24 through June 30, 2017 on the 8th floor featuring artists from the Get Along Arts Club.

Calligraphy and ink painting are traditional Chinese art forms used either individually or combined. Artists paint with brushes and ink on rice paper or thin silk, expressing a natural aesthetic. Calligraphy both conveys thought and shows the abstract beauty of the line. Painting covers subjects such as portrait, landscape, flowers, birds, animals and insects.

The Get Along Arts Club, opens a new window is a group of artists who gather every weekend to encourage each other and share their knowledge in creative arts. The group organizes annual exhibits in Chinese calligraphy and painting to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
