Art Exhibit by Monica Ricker-Bolter at Harold Washington Library Center

Harold Washington Library Center hosts a Native American Heritage Month art exhibit featuring artist Monica Rickert-Bolter in November. Her work is on display on the 3rd floor.

Artist Biography

Rickert-Bolter, who is of Potawatomi, African American and German descent, is a versatile artist whose works range from traditional to digital mediums. During college Rickert-Bolter found a new passion for using charcoals and Conté crayons in a life drawing class. Since then, she has explored this medium, focusing on portraits that highlight various skin tones, hair, fabrics and other textures. She is often praised for her ability to create characters, whether from references or imagined, with soulful eyes and subtle expressions.

Rickert-Bolter writes under her family name, Whitepigeon, for online publications related to Native American issues and tribally owned businesses.

She lives in Chicago with her husband and accepts regular commission work while continuously building her own portfolio.
