Today Lori Lightfoot is sworn in as Chicago's mayor, becoming the first African American woman to lead our city.

In honor of the new mayor's historic achievement, pick up some books celebrating other "firsts." We've compiled lists of stories of groundbreaking individuals who accomplished "firsts" in history that are both informative and inspiring.
