Surrender the sandals!

I am in total denial about the changing of the seasons. I know the leaves are falling, the temperatures are dropping and taffy apples and candy corn are in the aisles of the local grocery store - not to mention the Christmas lights and candy canes. These are all signs that summer is ending and fall has begun. People are busting out their rust colored sweaters and planning their trips to Michigan and Wisconsin to see the glorious colors of autumn. I AM NOT READY FOR THIS!! I am still wearing my white pants (take that, Amy Vanderbilt) and I refuse to surrender my sandals. I continue to bask in my summer glow. I can't get into throwing on a poncho and tossing the pigskin around because I know what is lurking behind this crisp fall air - THESEASONTHATCANNOTBENAMED. It's too horrible to think about - Chiberia, Snowmageddon, Snowpocalyse - NOOOO!! When something in my brain starts thinking I should really start shopping for winter boots I turn up the volume on my Beach Boys greatest hits until that nasty thought goes away. I defiantly order frozen Arnold Palmers at the local Dunkin Donuts and scoff at the Fall fetishists wearing hoodies and ordering pumpkin lattes, pumpkin muffins - any damn thing with pumpkin in it. I know eventually I will have to say goodbye to summer or I will freeze to death in my capris and tank top, so I am going to gradually start watching some movies involving leaves, football and Halloween. I think the ones I have chosen should help with this difficult transition.

Dead Poets Society is the story of a teacher at a New England prep school who inspires his students to live life to the fullest. Their mettle is tested when tragedy strikes.

Remember the Titans is the true story of a small town in Virginia and their reactions when their beloved football team becomes integrated and the newly appointed African-American coach must deal with a racially divided town and team.

John Carpenter's Halloween is one scary movie about a psychotic murderer who escapes from a mental institution and stalks a teenager and her friends.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown - With autumn in full swing the Peanuts gang prepares for Halloween.
