NEIU presents: The Beautiful Crossing

Northeastern Illinois University presented a discussion of Exit West by Mohsin Hamid and themes of immigration, refugees and the challenges of facing us today as part of the One Book, One Chicago 2020 season. Northeastern Illinois University faculty members Tim Libretti (Acting Associate Dean of the English Dept., NEIU, Multi-Ethnic Literature), Maria De La Torre (Associate Professor and Acting Chair of Justice Studies & Latina/o and Latin American Studies, NEIU, Global Migration, and Social Justice), and Brad Greenburg (Professor of English, NEIU, author of When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloomed), as well as Alana Murphy from The Beautiful Crossing, a platform for sharing stories from former refugees and asylum seekers, spoke on the panel.
