Sang, Phillip Papers

Dates: 1682-1970. Size: 15 linear feet. Accession #1978/01. Chicago Public Library, Woodson Regional Library, Vivian G. Harsh Research Collection of Afro-American History and Literature. Phillip Sang was a collector of manuscript materials and memorabilia on slavery and abolitionism. His papers include original documents from slave owners, slave traders and insurance companies. Other materials include correspondence, photographs, speeches, pamphlets and memorabilia by abolitionists and about the abolitionist movement; as well as few items from the Civil Rights era.
