Bilingual Books for Babies: English/Spanish

Dual language homes rock! Research shows that babies who have strong early literacy skills in their home language will carry those skills with them when they begin to learn English. Simple and sturdy, these books make good choices for sharing Spanish talk, sing, read, write and play moments with your little ones:

Talk: Grow vocabulary with the Say and Play Bilingual series! The bright, clear pictures in these books, especially Baby Animals, will enchant your baby and get her pointing. Talk about Things that go and make sounds with Oink, Moo, Meow.

Sing: Fun and catchy in either language, this new version of the classic rhyme, Los pollitos, flips over easily from English to Spanish. Once you start singing, you won't want to stop, and neither will your baby! Check out some of the other titles in the Canticos series for more great books to sing.

Read: Ready for a little longer story? Then open up El perro con sombrero and follow the handsome Pepe in his new sombrero as he gets his big break in the movies.

Write: Writing activities for babies don't involve pencils—you just need to get those fingers moving! Touch and trace the puppies and kittens in Toca y aprende perrito or trace the alphabet in Mi primer alfabeto.

Play: Share a playful moment with some classic titles in translation. Look for Annie Kubler's and Leslie Patricelli's classic board book titles. I just love the opposites in Silencio ruido. I bet you and your little one will too!

We recommend families read together for 20 minutes a day!
