Last week was another great week in the lab. We doubled the workshops and heard some great stories about what you plan to make.
Lab staff is hard at work creating the next round of workshops: the Typographic Keychain and the Happy Bookmark. Check back Monday afternoon for new additions to the week’s schedule.
For those interested in open shop, stop by from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 31. Open shop is for independent, self-directed learning.
During open shop you can:
- meet the equipment
- try out the software
- design something new
- print or cut your designs
- learn about future events
- get inspired
Tommy designed a card case during open shop. He spent about 20 minutes designing it in Autodesk 123D Design. The MakerBot Replicator 2 printed the case in just under an hour. In the true spirit of prototyping, we learned how important it is to measure twice. The card case came out three-tenths of an inch too small, so we thought we should mention that we do have digital calipers.
For open shop, bring your library card or ID so we can sign you in to a laptop. Be prepared to hang out, ask questions and meet other makers. Tell us what you’re interested in making. Who knows, it might end up as a future workshop!
