Teen Voices: Featuring Jadaniel and Hero Carrie Smith

Teens, as part of Elevate Your Voice, we're asking you to give a shout out to your hero and to share an original art piece, video, photo or recording inspired by your hero. Your submission could be featured on the CPL website, like this one.

Jadaniel, who goes by J.D., is composing a song entitled "A Tale with No Title" at the Albany Park Branch YOUmedia.

This orchestral composition is inspired by his hero and grandmother, Carrie Smith, who died recently. J.D. said his grandmother had so many stories to tell, and he's grateful he made the time to listen to her share them while she was still alive.

At 18, J.D. has already composed a couple hundred songs. He finds it relaxing and easy to do much of this work in YOUmedia. Driven and inspired to pursue a career in music, J.D. hopes to attend either Oberlin Conservatory of Music or The Julliard School. "A Tale with No Title" is one of the pieces he plans to share with admissions representatives.
