Teen Chicago Travel Guide: Featuring Cindy

This year we spotlight teen voices in our Teen Chicago Travel Guide.

Cindy M. visited the Lincoln Park Zoo and checked out the bird exhibits.

Cindy's Story: I went to the Lincoln Park Zoo and the Birds of Prey exhibit caught my eye. You can go inside and be in a room with the birds. The birds were flying above and some birds walked really close to the people. In another room, there was a bird that had different color feathers so it looked like a rainbow (pictured). I didn't read all the signs about the birds, but for most of the species, the male was more colorful than the female bird. The male birds would have different colored feathers while the female was just brown or dark colored.

The zoo also has a cafe with a variety of food. I had the ice cream sundae which was three scoops of ice cream with toppings. You could choose what flavors of ice cream you wanted and what toppings to use.

The zoo is free so you don't have to pay anything to see the animals. I learned a lot about the animals, including some species that are endangered and need to be protected; I want to see how I can help protect endangered animals. I think other teens would like to go here for a date or to hang out with friends.

Thanks for sharing your zoo adventure, Cindy!
