Play Tabletop Games at Harold Washington Library Center

Are you an expert at Monopoly? A whiz at Scrabble? Or are you strictly a role-play gamer?

Whatever your specialty, now you can practice your skills at the Harold Washington Library Center using our in-house board game collection.

Stop by and check out the collection as we celebrate International TableTop Game Day on Saturday, April 11! The event is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the 6th floor of the Harold Washington Library Center. Register on EventBrite.

Librarians will be on hand to teach the mechanics of games you hear so much about, such as Dominion, Munchkin Panic and Pandemic. (Did you hear about the Packers and Settlers of Catan? See Green Bay’s Board-Game Obsession to read more.)

International TableTop Day was created by the team behind the YouTube series "TableTop." Check out their gameplay video for "Once Upon a Time," one of the many games that we'll have for you to play Saturday.

Play at the Library Anytime

And you can pick up a game anytime at the Business, History and Science reference desk on the 6th floor of the Harold Washington Library Center. There might even be a librarian available to walk you through the first game. We have games from the classics, like Monopoly and dominoes, to more specialized genre games like Fluxx or Quiddler.

If you need a place for your Magic the Gathering or D&D meetups, consider the library—a place where people of all ages are encouraged to play, chat and learn. You can even book a meeting room or study room online!
