Maker Lab: Games, Family Drop-In and April Book Discussion

This Saturday, April 11, is International TableTop Day. At 2 p.m., we'll have the always fun Patrick McCarthy in the Maker Lab giving you an overview on game pieces before you design and print your own game piece in 3D.

Come by the Harold Washington Library Center earlier in the day, as games will be out and ready to play from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for our own TableTop Game Day, so stop by and don't be shy. (Read more about the tabletop games available at HWLC.)

From April 16-19, the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events is presenting the inaugural Lake FX Summit + Expo at the Cultural Center. Stop by our table as you wind your way through resources, presentations and exhibits for creatives and makers of all kinds.

Our next Family Drop-In is Saturday, April 18. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., you can design and laser cut your very own dinosaur, which can be used as a key chain or zipper pull.

Our second Maker Lab Book Discussion and Design Jam is Thursday, April 30. Pick up a copy of Homeland by Cory Doctorow, or stream the audiobook with hoopla. Doctorow's prose goes a long way to explain the capabilities of the technology all around us. How might we use these technologies in new and useful ways? Explore these ideas during the Design Jam.
