GED classes are held at Woodson, West Pullman, Back of the Yards and Little Village this fall

GED classes continue at Woodson and start at West Pullman. Spanish GED classes continue at Little Village and Back of the Yards.

The Library is partnering with the City Colleges and UIC's Center for Literacy to offer GED classes this fall at some libraries. 

GED classes will start at Woodson Regional Library on August 24th and will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Olive Harvey College runs the classes. Olive Harvey will be at Woodson on August 18th during the end of summer bash from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. and on August 19th from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. during the community resource fair. Woodson is located at 9525 S. Halsted Street, Chicago, IL 60628.

The West Pullman branch will have GED classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 until 3:00 pm starting on August 25th. Visit West Pullman on Thursday, August 20th between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to learn more and to register. West Pullman branch is located at 830 W. 119th Street, Chicago, IL 60643. These classes will be taught by Olive Harvey college.

Back of the Yards has GED classes in Spanish. UIC's Center for Literacy teaches the classes. Classes are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the library. Please contact the Center for Literacy if you want to register. You can start classes anytime. 

Little Village has GED classes in Spanish. Classes are held from 1-4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the library. The classes are run by UIC's Center for Literacy. Please contact UIC's Center for Literacy if you want to register. You can start classes anytime. 


The city colleges offer many options for GED classes. These classes are free and open to Illinois residents ages 18 and over. Students who are 16 and 17 can take city college classes if they show a high school separation form. Once you're registered for the city college classes, you're able to use any of the college's resources and services for students including the wellness centers, food pantries, and gyms. You can also take city college GED classes at the colleges or online. Visit this page for more information.
