Food Drive at Back of the Yards Branch

Back of the Yards Branch is participating in a food drive to support the Greater Chicago Food Depository! Please join us in this effort to help thousands of Chicagoans who are at risk of going hungry.

According to the food depository, 16.6 percent of Cook County’s population faces food insecurity, meaning 860,670 people are unsure of when they will have their next meal. In some communities, the food insecurity rate is as high as 1 in 3 individuals. Our food drive will help the food depository provide food to these communities during challenging times.

We are collecting nonperishable food at the library until January 3. The most needed items are: canned beans, canned chili, soup, stew, canned fruit, pasta sauce, peanut butter, jelly, canned vegetables and tuna.

Thank you in advance for your participation and support! Together we can make sure no one in our community goes hungry.
