All aboard for art museum fun!
Families are invited to join our special summer field trips to the world-renowned Art Institute of Chicago, with chartered buses departing from and returning directly to various library locations across the city.
Each trip will include a guided, interactive tour with a summer intern. Many of these interns are recent college graduates from all over the country, and some grew up right here in Chicago. Most of them love making art themselves, and all of them enjoy working with kids. In fact, they can't wait to share and discuss a limited selection of artwork treasures with our library families!
Each trip will include art-making activities in a private studio of the Ryan Learning Center where everyone will have an opportunity to create watercolor painting (closely tied to the drop-in painting activity offered at the Artist's Studio at the Library this summer).
Past field trip participants reported they had a fabulous time and were eager to return to further explore the museum's extraordinary collections. Thankfully, the Art Institute makes this especially easy by generously providing a free guest pass to every participating family.
Sign up for your fantastic family field trip today!
Note: Families are encouraged to bring refreshments and snacks for these adventures, as there are no vending machines and there will not be time to leave the museum to purchase food to eat downtown.
These programs are made possible in partnership with the Art Institute of Chicago, where summer learning is generously supported by The Jane Wilson and David Mayhew Stone Charitable Trust.
