Art Exhibit by Jungyul Yu at Bezazian Branch

Bezazian Branch hosts an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month art exhibit during May 2018 featuring artist Jungyul Yu.

Jungyul Yu holds a bachelor's degree in studio art from Kenyon College and a Master of Fine Arts in studio art from Florida State University. She has had several solo exhibits and participated in group shows in both the U.S. and South Korea. She has received an Individual Artists Program grant (2018) and a Community Arts Assistance Program grant (2009) from the City of Chicago and the grand prize at the Modern Wing Photo Contest organized by The Art Institute of Chicago and NBC5 in 2008. She currently paints with oil and mixed media. Among other materials, she incorporates photographs and found objects (such as tree bark, yarn, and leaves) into her paintings. Occasionally, writings in Korean (her native language), English (her second language), and French (which she studied in Korea) appear in her work in forms of a few words, short sentences or fragments.
