Art Exhibit by Jenny Lam at West Chicago Avenue Branch

West Chicago Avenue Branch hosts an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month art exhibit during May 2018 featuring artist Jenny Lam.

Jenny Lam is a self-taught artist, independent curator and writer. She was born in Chicago to immigrants from Hong Kong, and she graduated from Columbia University in New York City. Her site, Artists on the Lam, was named Best Visual Arts Blog in the Chicago Reader’s Best of Chicago issue, and her show, I CAN DO THAT, was named audience choice for Best Art Exhibit in the 20th anniversary edition of NewCity’s Best of Chicago issue. Her ongoing large-scale interactive public art and mapping project, Dreams of a City, was exhibited in the Chicago Cultural Center, and an original story exploring Asian American identity was published in New Frontiers, a graphic novel anthology. She has written for Time Out Chicago and Sixty Inches from Center, and she has conducted visiting artist workshops at the Chicago Children’s Museum. In March, she launched a new interview series, ABC in HK.
