Hunting for jobs can be overwhelming. Besides all the other concerns, the sheer number of job listing websites means an awful lot of trial and error in a process that is already fraught with difficulties. Are you spending your time on a site that has enough available openings to meet your qualifications?
If you're just getting started, I recommend you check out our computer learning tool, Chicago DigitalLearn. We have two tutorials on creating a resume and online job searching that you may find beneficial.
If you're already prepared and ready to go, make sure that you know these helpful job searching websites:
- Indeed searches jobs that are posted on thousands of different websites.
- Idealist is for jobs with social impact.
- City of Chicago Employment Services lists all current openings. Remember, you have to live in the city to work for the City!
- Illinois Job Link is a site maintained by our state government. In addition to job searching, you can read good tips and how-to guides.
- USAJOBS is the hiring site for the federal government.
