Valentine's Day is one of those holidays that can be very stressful if you don't have a significant other in your life. Every store you go to, from CVS to Macy's, has giant red hearts, flowers, perfume and candy strategically placed to remind you that you need to buy something for your soul mate.

But what if you aren't currently in a relationship? Where does that leave you? Or worse yet, what if you are in the middle of a terrible breakup, and the sight of couples holding hands or gazing adoringly into each other's eyes propels you into the nearest Ben & Jerry's to dive headfirst into a bucket of mint chocolate chip ice cream? Well, the antidote to this feeling is to watch movies where love goes wrong—violently, explosively, insanely wrong. It will make you feel ever so much better about your situation when you see that one isn't necessarily the loneliest number because two can sometimes be cray-cray. Listed below are some movies that depict really bad romances. And be sure to check out our Love Hurts list of love gone bad DVDs.

Fatal Attraction: A married New York attorney is stalked by his one-night stand. She refuses to take no for an answer and says she "won't be ignored."

Unfaithful: A suburban housewife has an affair with a stranger, which ultimately threatens her marriage. She tries to break it off, but the relationship becomes an obsession.

Sleeping With the Enemy: A psychological thriller about a woman who escapes her wealthy, abusive husband by changing her name and moving to another state where she begins a relationship with a college teacher. However, her husband finds out and will stop at nothing to get her back.

Gone Girl: A mystery about a man whose wife has gone missing. Suspicions arise that he has killed her, but he proclaims his innocence.  A very dark movie with many twists and turns along the way.
