About This Content
As demand for eBooks grows, publishers continue to adapt how they make eBooks available to libraries. This impacts the titles the Chicago Public Library is able to offer.
- Some publishers do not offer eBooks to libraries or do not offer eBook versions of new titles to libraries.
- Only one patron may read an eBook copy at a time, so there are waiting lists for some titles.
Accessible eBooks
Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 is compatible with several screen readers for users with low vision or visual impairments.
If you have a print disability and need accessible eBooks, you may qualify for free membership to the Library eBook Accessibility Program (LEAP). Log in to your eBooks, eAudiobooks and More account to apply for free membership.
The Chicago Public Library also provides accessible digital audiobooks and equipment to qualifying patrons through the Talking Book Center.
