About This Content
As demand for eBooks grows, publishers continue to adapt their business model for making eBooks available to libraries. This impacts the titles the Chicago Public Library is able to offer through its Downloadable Media Catalog.
- Some publishers do not offer eBooks to libraries or do not offer eBook versions of new titles to libraries.
- Only one patron may read an eBook copy at a time, so there are waiting lists for some titles.

When searching the Downloadable Media Catalog, narrow your search to find only titles that are available to download immediately. Do this by checking the box “Only show titles with copies available” or “Limit to available copies.”
