Transitory Matter: Works on Paper by Hannah Ireland

Harold Washington Library Center hosts a Women’s History Month art exhibit from March 1 to April 11; look for it on the 8th floor in the north flat exhibit cases.

Transitory Matter is an exhibition of works on paper by Hannah Ireland. Ireland combines an array of drawing, painting and print processes to create enigmatic work inspired by her memories of experiences hiking and exploring natural places, most recently remote parts of Australia, Spain and Portugal. The resulting works on paper simultaneously examine small moments in nature, and the vastness and sublime quality of the landscape. A portion of the prints on display were made while Ireland was artist in residence at Spudnik Press Cooperative, a community print shop in Chicago.

The artist will give a relief printmaking workshop at 2 p.m. March 15 at the Harold Washington Library Center. Registration is required; call (312) 747-4800 or email art@chipublib.org.
