The Staple Singers and the Civil Rights Movement: A Fashion Window Display at Columbia College

As part of this season of One Book, One Chicago - exploring the theme "Music: The Beat of Our City", Columbia College Chicago will host a fashion window display. From February 5 - 28, "The Staple Singers and the Civil Rights Movement: A Fashion Window Display" will be on exhibit at the Michigan Avenue Windows, 618 South Michigan Avenue.

All are welcome to enjoy this exhibition featuring garments selected from Columbia College Chicago’s Fashion Studies Collection which focus on clothing styles from the Civil Rights era, along with materials from the archives of the Center for Black Music Research, which illustrate the vital role the Chicago-based Staple Singers played in the Civil Rights movement.

Many thanks to our partners at the Center for Black Music Research and Columbia College Chicago for making this possible.
