Teens, Help Restore the Reading Garden at Dunning Branch

We're excited to announce the restoration of the Dunning Branch Reading Garden, which currently has washed-out planting beds and weeds, but will soon have lovely native plants, wildflowers and tall grasses thanks to teens like you!

You can help plan the garden and create surrounding murals this summer. Then we'll work together to develop outdoor programming and finish with an end-of-summer celebration.

This mini-grant project is part of CPL's 2018 Teen Summer Challenge, Imagine Doing More!, in which teens are challenged to improve their Chicago environment. This project is managed by Teen Services staff member Daniel W. in collaboration with other branch staff, professional artist Tony Passero, community partners from the Chicago Park District Sayre and Hiawatha Parks and the Forest Preserves of Cook County, as well as representatives from Dever Elementary and the 16th District Police Station.

Find out how to get involved today by stopping at Dunning Branch's Teen Zone program series to talk to Daniel, or check out upcoming events at Dunning Branch!
