Teen Voices: Featuring Sebastian

Each month we spotlight a teen at CPL.

Sebastian visits Lozano YOUmedia regularly and enjoys using technology to express his creativity.

Q: What’s your favorite program at the library? What do you like about it?

A: Photography and Photoshop because I like messing around with the way things are shot and what you can portray through images. I like that photography can be so powerful.

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: I enjoy reading and messing around with computers as well as playing video games.

Q: What’s your favorite book, author and/or genre?

A: My favorite authors are Patrick Rothfuss and Rick Riordan because their books are very hard to put down for a long long time. I found Riordan’s Percy Jackson series enjoyable because he took research based on ancient Greek and Roman mythology and integrated it with modern perspective in society. This is what makes his books so great. I enjoy Rothfuss’ books, such as The Wise Man's Fear and The Name of the Wind, because of their intricacy in detail throughout the books.

Q: How has the library been a part of your life? What do you like to do there?

A: The library is a place where I can do what I can’t do at home, like experimenting with programs such as Photoshop and GarageBand any time I want. My elementary school had these programs but we could only use them once a week. Now that I am in high school, these programs are also made available but I have to follow a specific instruction on what to create. At YOUmedia I have more freedom to be my own designer and to make creations that align with my own interests. The library is also a place where I hang out with friends and mentors. I really like hanging out at YOUmedia with my friends.

Thanks Sebastian! We hope you continue to keep creating at YOUmedia!
