Teen Voices: Featuring Alan

Each month we spotlight a teen at CPL.

Alan E.'s motivation and creativity has made him stand out as one of the go-getter tweens at the Back of the Yards YOUmedia. He's a YOUmedia leaderboard winner, maintaining a top spot for the past two cycles. Last summer he volunteered to make a cardboard spaceship to help create a more active play space at the library for the space-themed Summer Learning Challenge. Jaime talked to him while he was taking a break from building projects in Minecraft. Hear what he had to say!

Q: What's your favorite program at the library?

A: I really enjoy YOUmedia programs, specifically maker programs where I can show my creativity and point of view.

Q: What are you hobbies?

A: My favorite hobbies are drawing, all things tech, playing video games and maker activities.

Q: What's your favorite book?

A: My favorite book is Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson because it talks about real life issues.

Q: How has the library been a part of your life? What do you like to do there?

A: I learned about the library's teen programs through Mr. Jaime doing outreach at the park. The first time I went to the program we made piñatas and it was great. I come to the library to hang out, make things and earn leaderboard points.

Thanks Alan! We can't wait to see what you create next!
