Teen Voices: Artist Victoria G.

Teens, learn more about our most prominently featured and incredibly talented teen artist for the 2018 Teen Summer Challenge: Imagine Doing More!

At 17, Victoria G. of Logan Square Branch has focused much of her life and energy into art-making. From doodling with markers and ink pens to painting on canvas or utilizing charcoal and drawing with colored pencils in a sketchbook, she's been devoted to acquiring technical art skills, understanding the function of visual elements and appreciating the natural beauty around her.

Throughout elementary and high school, she's spent extracurricular time in art activities designed to enrich her education and experience, including after-school art clubs and Vans Design Club activities, in which she painted benches and furniture over eight weeks.

Victoria participated in CPL's 2017-18 Teen Winter Challenge, for which she was named second runner-up for the Teen Winter Challenge Senior Achievement Award.

As an aspiring artist and illustrator, Victoria says some goals for her work are to "effectively capture my life and thoughts to construct a personal connection between me and the viewer" and "to celebrate and communicate the mystery and beauty of humans."

We hope you enjoy seeing Victoria's images throughout CPL's print and electronic materials this summer. We're thrilled to feature her work and support her mission in connecting with viewers while celebrating and communicating mysterious human beauty.
