Bucktown-Wicker Park Branch: Counted in Reading for the World Record

On October 3, Chicago Public Library participated in Jumpstart's Read for the Record. Each year millions of people take the Jumpstart challenge and we were counted among them again this year.

This year's selection, Otis by Loren Long, inspired many fun projects and a story time or two as well. During Read for the Record, we read the book and did several activities including Otis Bingo, creating a tractor out of the letter "T" and Otis coloring sheets.

If you want to keep the farm fun going, try some of these great titles:

How Did That Get in My Lunchbox

Brown Cow, Green Grass, Yellow Mellow Sun

Down on the Farm

Tractor Day

An Edible Alphabet

Still want more? You could try another activity or the fingerplay Five Fat Peas.

The Bucktown-Wicker Park Branch is looking forward to next year's opportunity to break the world record. What book do you think will be chosen next year?
