Hip-Hop, Poetry and Zines with Brown and Proud Press

Teens, feeling the need to zine? Come create with us! Learn what poetry slam, lyric poetry, spoken word, deaf jam poetry and hip-hop have in common with zines.

Luz Magdaleno Flores and Shanna Collins of Brown and Proud Press are excited to partner with Chicago Public Library to present a series of workshops across the city.

You'll work together to create a collaborative piece (poem or song) to be published in a collaborative zine that will be published by Brown and Proud Press at the end of the summer.

Need some inspiration? Check out our zine collections created by Chicago teens, like Megan's How to Make A Maze using Scratch, or Assata's artwork collection, Azxata, or even a zine on gaming, Library Of Games.

These workshops are part of the 2019 Teen Summer Challenge.
