The library offers programs and resources for those living with dementia and their caregivers. Please check out some highlights below, and watch this news post for updates.
The Woodson Regional Library will be hosting a Dementia Caregiver Summit on November 20th from 10am-2pm. Join Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center for this event that will bring together caregivers, healthcare professionals, and community groups to network, learn, and support one another.
The library's been partnering with Mather Institute to offer Boost Your Brain and Memory programs at Edgebrook, and the program will be offered at the West Englewood branch this month on November 20th. Register here. Mather has also been providing hydroponic gardening kits to branches for adults ages 50 and above to pick up for free. This program is slated to continue in 2026.
The Kelly branch is partnering with the Alzheimer's Association's Illinois Chapter to offer an Empowered Caregiver series. Find out more information and register on the events page. Visit the Alzheimer's Association website to access their resources and information.
Some branches offer memory cafes. Learn more about memory cafes from Dementia Friendly America. The Hall branch has started a collection of memory care kits, and we hope to add more kits next year.
