Conversations About Sex (for Teens and Parents of Teens) at West Belmont Branch

At West Belmont Branch, neighborhood teens voiced their interest in learning more about sexual relationships and sex education to teen librarian Karen.

Because Imagine Doing More!, CPL's 2018 Teen Summer Challenge includes a challenge to improve a chosen environment, Karen decided to focus the summer project at West Belmont Branch on improving the social-emotional environment by creating a welcoming environment that's safe for asking questions and speaking openly, and without judgement, about intimacy and relationships.

As part of this project, Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health will provide sex education and optional STI testing through two Conversations About Sex workshops in July at West Belmont Branch. The first workshop is for teens and the second is for parents of teens and teens who may want some guidance about having family conversations around healthy sex habits. Each program will include raffles for prizes along with pizza.
