Get involved with Chicago Public Library this spring by applying to one of our upcoming assistantships. Programs start January 9, 2027.
Applications open Monday, October 19th and close Sunday, November 15th. To qualify for application, you must:
- Live in the City of Chicago and attend a Chicago High School
- Be ages 14-19 by the program start date
You can apply to as many positions as you would like but you will only be able to accept one. This program is offered in partnership with After School Matters.
Teen Best Reads:
- Get paid to read and talk about your favorite books of the year. Record booktoks, plan the most anticipated literary event of the year and meet monthly with other teens to curate the ultimate annual book list by teens for teens.
- This program runs from January 2027 to December 2027
- ASM Program Sessions: Spring, Summer and Fall 2027
- Applications Open Monday, October 19.
Chicago Teen Gamer's Guild:
- Bring your gaming expertise to design a free, all ages convention that celebrates everything gaming. Apply to these sub-guilds: Cosplay, Escape Room Game Design, Esports, Esports Broadcasting, Experience Design, Meta Game Design, Production Design, Tabletop Game Design
- This assistantship runs from January 2027 to June 2027.

Teen Media Lab:
- Start your journey toward a future in digital storytelling and media production! Help boost our library’s online presence while gaining hands-on experience creating engaging content and collaborating with creative minds. Develop real-world skills in video and photo editing, content curation, and social media.
- This assistantship runs from January 2027 to December 2027 with a summer break from June to August.
