Babies at the Library

Chicago Public Library is always happy when our very youngest patrons visit with their caregivers!

There are lots of ways you and your baby can enjoy your visit to the library. In fact, the library is a perfect outing for your baby because it's free, you can stay as short or long as you want, and your baby is welcome to be as noisy as they need to be!

At the library you can:

  • Take your baby to a baby story time.
  • Support your baby's growing early literacy skills (yes, even your infant!)
  • Get a new high contrast board book to read during tummy time to help support your baby's brain development.
  • Check out a bedtime book.
  • Sing songs together (another important part of early literacy!)
  • Meet other babies and their parents
  • And so much more!
