Artist Statement

Blank paper has endless possibilities; it can be drawn on, painted on, or folded and molded into any structure imaginable. I use paper as a metaphor for people, their relationships, identity and their home. The themes, as I paint the paper in my work, are about found home and self identity. From face value, paper has varying subtle shifts in color and form, I create a bridge between abstract, minimalism and representational. What inspired me to create art was my observation of my surrounding society and my home, as well as the development of self-identification, from my adolescence transitioning into my adulthood.

More than 20 local artists are exhibiting at CPL during Hispanic Heritage Month.
