Art Exhibit by Jacob Yeung at Roosevelt Branch

Roosevelt Branch hosts an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month art exhibit through the month of May featuring artist Jacob Yeung.

Jacob Yeung is a multimedia documentary artist based in Chicago. Yeung’s projects mostly revolve around Chinese American narratives. Featured in this exhibit for the Roosevelt Library is a single image, taken from a collection of portraits featuring various Chinese American women in Chicago. The image chosen is a portrait of Grace Chun, born in 1938 and raised on the Northside of Chicago. Grace has been a long time supporter and founding board member of a literacy group called Boundless Readers, the Rochelle Fund to Make Reading a Part of Children's Lives. The program has since merged under the WITS program “to create a holistic approach to literacy programs in classes and schools.” Grace also volunteers and belongs to the exhibition committee at the Chinese American Museum of Chicago in Armour Square.
