Apply to be a CPL Teen Printmaker!

Apply to be part of CPL Teen Printmakers, a 12-week summer program where you can explore the world of printmaking right here in our city, part of Art Design Chicago.

Join our YOUmedia art mentor to uncover treasures from the archives of Chicago Public Library and other cultural organizations around the city, while taking a deep-dive into printmaking techniques through weekly experiences at the artist-run Chicago Printmakers Collaborative. Your printmaking work will be part of a mounted traveling exhibit you help build and will be featured in neighborhoods in the fall of 2018.

All teen printmakers will earn a $500 stipend for the 12-week program from June 4 to August 24. The program will start weekly at the beginning of June and then switch to a more intensive style, (Mondays and Tuesdays 11 am - 2pm) after June 25th. Monday sessions will focus on exploring and research at cultural institutions. Tuesday sessions will take place at the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative and focus on technical instruction.

The application deadline is May 11 and each applicant is requested to submit three pieces of art. Applications are open to teens in high school, age 14-18. Get started today by submitting your application here.

Chicago Public Library is part of Art Design Chicago, an exploration of Chicago's art and design legacy, an initiative of the Terra Foundation for American Art with presenting partner The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation.
