Chicago artist Laurie LeBreton's figures were inspired by a pilgrimage to a cave in Laos, where there were more than 2000 Buddhas. Her figures are not necessarily Buddhas; viewers have interpreted them many different ways, as manifestations of community, as ancestors and as ghosts.
