I’m visiting from out of state; can I get a library card?

Yes, you’re eligible for a Chicago Public Library card but will need to make a cash deposit equal to the value of the materials you check out. Please visit any CPL location to fill out an application. You’ll need to show a current, valid ID with your name, photo and address, as well as ID verifying your temporary Chicago address.

You don’t need a library card to use materials on site at the library.
