How Do I Book the Shushbooth at Woodson?

The Shushbooth at our Woodson Regional Library branch offers privacy for a single individual. Applicants may book the Shushbooth up to two (2) weeks in advance and up to two (2) hours per week. The Shushbooth may be forfeited after 10 minutes if unoccupied/unclaimed.

Room Capacity: The Shushbooth is single occupancy only. If you need space for 2 or more people, please book a study or meeting room.

Location: The Shushbooth is located on the second floor, in the computer commons. It has Wi-Fi connectivity, light and an electrical outlet for devices. Shushbooth use is subject to the library guidelines and study room use guidelines. Failure to comply with these policies may result in the denial of future requests for use.

Guidelines for Use
To ensure access and meet the needs of a variety of users, the Library may limit the number or length of Shushbooth reservations during any time period for any Applicant. The Library also reserves the right to place additional limitations on the use of the Shushbooth, based on varying demands. All applicants should be aware that the Chicago Human Rights Ordinance prohibits discrimination based on race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, disability, age (over 40), sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, parental status, marital status, military discharge status, and source of income.

  1. The Shushbooth shall not be used in any way that interferes with regular library services and operations, or which causes a threat to the safety of library employees, patrons or property.
  2. The Shushbooth is available for use only during regular service hours on days the Library is open.
  3. All persons using The Shushbooth must comply with CPL’s Library Use Guidelines.
  4. Applicant must present valid proof of identification at time of check-in.
  5. Applicant shall leave the room in good order.
  6. The Shushbooth is for use by 1 person at a time. No exceptions.
  7. All persons shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Chicago Public Library and City of Chicago, its officers, agents and employees from and against any and all claims, suits, actions of any kind, arising and resulting and accruing from any negligent act, omission or error of the person resulting in or relating to personal injuries or property damage arising from the individual’s use of the Shushbooth.
