Abstract
The West Side Newspaper Collection consists of partial runs of West Side newspapers including The Austinite, Garfield News, Garfieldian and the West Town News, among others.
Biographical/Historical
Chicago’s West Side has been served by a number of neighborhood newspapers over the years. The papers follow community events, businesses and people more closely than citywide papers. The West Side community areas served by the newspapers in this collection include Austin, Brighton Park, East Garfield Park, Humboldt Park, Lower West Side, Near West Side, North Lawndale, South Lawndale, West Garfield Park and West Town.
