Biographical Note

Sisi Donald Mosby is a Chicago author and publisher. He attended Wendell Phillips High School and graduated in 1949. Mosby received his M.A. in Inner City Education at Northeastern Illinois in 1987. In 1990 he received his M.A. at Chicago State University in Library Science and Communications Media.

Mosby founded a publishing company called Sisi Donald Mosby, Ltd.. In the 1950s, Sisi Donald Mosby and Helen Buckler wrote a book on Chicago surgeon Dr. Ulysses Grant Dailey. The manuscript was never published. Mosby was also the editor of The Struggle magazine and was active in the civil rights movement.

Scope and Content

This collection includes speeches and articles written by Dr. Ulysses Grant Dailey, biographical information on Dr. Ulysses Grant Dailey, and draft chapters of a manuscript (biography) about Dr. Ulysses Grant Dailey. Also included are incomplete issues of The Struggle, a Chicago magazine on the struggle for civil rights.

The collection is arranged into two series by material subject. Series 1: Materials on Dr. Ulysses Grant Dailey, 1951-1955, undated is organized alphabetically by title. Series 2: The Struggle Magazines, 1963-1964 is organized chronologically.
