Among the document types are correspondence, drawings, manuscripts, notes, photographs, poems, publications and sentiments.
Biographical/Historical
Autograph and manuscript collecting has a long history. Many notable collections date to the early modern period and were often kept in an album known as an “album amicorum” or “book of friends.” By the 1800s, booksellers and private agents often managed the transactions of notable collections. As this hobby grew more popular, many collectors often sought out autographs and other collectibles from illustrious living persons.
