Thank a Teacher

If you know how to read, thank a teacher. If you know how to add and subtract, thank a teacher. If you are curious about the world, thank a teacher.

The first week of May is National Teacher Appreciation Week. What a good reason to read about some teachers who've made a real difference in kids' lives!

Matilda loves books, but her horrible parents want her to watch more TV. At school, the kid-hating headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, bullies all the students. Matilda can only trust her teacher, Miss Honey, when she develops an amazing new skill. Working together, they both get what they need.

Matilda is available in multiple formats.

In Love That Dog, Jack isn't interested in writing poems. That's for girls, he thinks. But his teacher, Miss Stretchberry, keeps asking questions. Finding the answers makes Jack try harder. As he writes about his life, his teacher helps him be confident in the poet he becomes.

Love That Dog is also available as an audiobook.

The fifth-graders at Snow Hill School are excited to have a new teacher this year. Mr. Terupt is funny and teaches them using cool projects. He even lets them have an extra recess to play outside one snowy day. But after a terrible accident, the students learn more about life Because of Mr. Terupt.

Because of Mr. Terupt is available in multiple formats.

Which teacher has made the biggest difference in your life?
