5 to Read After How to Train Your Dragon

Everyone's favorite Viking dragon trainer is back in the theaters in How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, but did you know that Hiccup and Toothless got their start in The Heroic Misadventures of Hiccup the Viking, the first book in Cressida Cowell's series, How to Train Your Dragon? If you haven't read the series, it's just as funny and entertaining as the movies, plus we get an up-close and sometimes-gross look at Viking myths. If you've read this series and are looking for even more books with fantasy and attitude, try one of these five dragon tales.

Dragons in A Bag: Jax and "Ma" attempt to return three baby dragons to their magical home in the first installment of this adventure-filled fantasy.

Dragonbreath: This laugh-out-loud comic book-like series stars Danny Dragonbreath on an epic adventure underwater where he almost gets eaten alive and possibly learns to breathe fire.

Dragon Rider: Helped by an orphan human and a fearless brownie, Firedrake the dragon must find the magical Rim of Heaven to save his species from extinction.

The Girl Who Drank the Moon: In this fantastical, Newbery-winning title, Luna is raised by a witch, a monster and a "Perfectly Tiny Dragon" while learning to control the magical powers she received after accidentally drinking moonlight.

Where the Mountain Meets the Moon: In this book weaving Chinese folklore with adventure and magic, a young girl searches for the Man in the Moon with the help of a flightless dragon in order to bring prosperity back to her poor village.
