The weather outside is frightful, but reading a cozy book for the February 2026 Reading Challenge for Adults is delightful! This month participants will be entered in a drawing for a Chicago Public Library beanie or thermos.
The February 2026 reading challenge for adults is to read a cozy book of any genre.
Cozy mysteries are probably the most well known kind of cozy reading, famous for their crime-driven plot set in an idyllic locale, ideally with a plucky sleuth at the helm. But there are other kinds of cozy books too. For example, cozy fantasy features loveable characters and a light-hearted plot in a magical setting. For nonfiction enthusiasts, there are plenty of cozy books that focus on slowing down and examining the world around us.
If the concept of cozy really doesn't spark your interest, try any book set somewhere warm.
Let us know in the comments which cozy title you're reading. In March, we'll draw winners from all the entries.
Watch for new challenges and more chances to win in March!
Reading more than one book? Feel free to leave multiple comments, but please note the drawing will only include one entry per reader. CPL staff are welcome to share what you're reading but are not eligible to win.
Which cozy book is warming you up this month?
