Let’s face it, fashion is everywhere. Chicago Public Library subscribes to all the major fashion and style magazines but more than that, there are countless books on the subject. Tim Gunn's Fashion Bible chronicles Western fashion and gives a history lesson on garments from the caveman to the present, but insists that it’s not all encompassing.

He covers all aspects of fashion from the undergarment to shoes and includes style tips at the end of each chapter for both male and female readers.

The Style Strategy by Nina Garcia: The Project Runway judge and co-host offers a wealth of information on fashion, shopping and style strategies as indicated in the title of the book, which is actually her second book on the subject.

Snapshots of her advice include guidelines like:

  • Less is more
  • Shopping smart
  • Spend money on the shoes

The Cheap Chica's Guide to Style by Lilliana Vazquez: Vazquez enlightens readers with guidance on the key to having style on a budget. She offers many tips and tricks as well as organizational tools and links to pertinent websites.

The Wow Factor by Jacqui Stafford: The author shares affordable insider style secrets for every body by suggesting ways to look expensive without breaking the bank.
